fight breast cancer

When asked the question, “what are you passionate about,” there is never any hesitation. It is breast cancer. Specifically, it is young women (under 40) and black women with breast cancer. I’ve been active with Komen for the Cure for nearly a decade, participating in the yearly Race for the Cure. But over the last five years, I have intimately become aware on how breast cancer can destroy hope, faith, purpose, and determination in the strongest of women.

Frequent visitors know that breast cancer is a frequent topic here on blackgirlgrown. Indeed it is, and will continue to until we’ve achieved a level of awareness in which women of color (and black women specifically) aren’t dying at such a higher rate than their white counterparts. And until breast cancer isn’t a death sentence to women overall.

You will find resources to support breast cancer awareness and health information specific to women of color. Indeed it is a war. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.
