Are You An Organ Donor?

It isn’t something I ever gave much thought to. While I’ve had my share of health issues, I’ve never had to rely on an organ donation to save my life. And I can’t imagine what it’s like to have to rely on someone else’s misfortune to save my life. It must be an unshakeable faith in God and a belief that the circle of life is never broken and continues in each of us.
Recently, a friend of mine had a liver transplant. She is such a sweet soul and it hasn’t been an easy journey. But you’d never know it. She has an incredible and resilient spirit.
Though she is still recuperating, she wrote a couple of Facebook posts remarking on her transplant and the circumstances allowing for her transplant. It was a young girl. Regrettably, the young girl died suddenly. But her parents, in that moment, had the wherewithal, faith, and selflessness to allow their daughter to save another life. My friend closed her message by urging all of us to sign up as organ donors.
It was no coincidence that my form to renew my driver’s license had just arrived in the mail. It came on that day, at that time, for a reason. My steps were inspired and ordered.
My response to my friend who had just received her organ transplant:
I wanted to let you know that your journey and message on organ donation resonated with me. I JUST got my form to renew my driver’s license. As I was renewing it online this morning, I was prompted to answer the question, “will you be an organ donor?” I proudly clicked yes. That was you and God;-).
Please consider doing the same.
