This Week in Washington: May 16, 2011

The White House: On Monday, will travel to Memphis, Tennessee to deliver the commencement address at Booker T. Washington High School, the winner of the 2011 Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge. The President will also welcome the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team to the White House for a ceremony honoring their 2011 NCAA national championship. Also this week, President Obama will meet with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan at the White House, host a White House reception in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month, and travel to New London, Connecticut to deliver the commencement speech at the United States Coast Guard Academy.

The U.S. Senate: This week, the Senate will focus its attention on energy policy with debate to begin on a Democratic bill to repeal oil company tax breaks.  Republicans are expected to counter with a measure to boost offshore drilling.

The U.S. House of Representatives: The House is in recess this week.
