This Week in Washington: May 10, 2011

The White House:  This week,  President Obama will meet with the co-chairs of the U.S. and China Strategic and Economic Dialogue, including Secretary of State Clinton, Treasury Secretary Geithner, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and State Councilor Dai Bingguo. The President will also travel to the El Paso, Texas area to deliver a speech on fixing the broken immigration system .  On Wednesday, the President will participate in a CBS Town Hall at the Newseum.

The U.S. Senate: This week, the Senate will vote on the nomination of James M. Cole to be deputy attorney general. Additionally, the Senate will swear in its newest member, Sen.-designate Dean Heller (R-NV), will be sworn in as Senator John Ensign’s successor who resigned several weeks ago.

The U.S. House of Representatives: The House will vote on legislation related to offshore oil drilling permits and leases. The House will also likely vote on an intelligence authorization bill which would increase the number of CIA counterterrorism analysts.
