The White House: Coming off of a temporary “bachelor-in-chief” birthday weekend, President Obama used his weekly address to highlight a report suggesting that the health care reform law has put Medicare on a sounder financial footing. This week, President Obama will welcome the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints to the White House and travel to Texas for Democratic fundraising events.
The U.S. Senate: After passing an extension of funding to keep teachers on the job and confirming Elena Kagan as the next Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, the Senate adjourned for its August District Work Period. They are scheduled to return on September 13, 2010.
The U.S. House of Representatives: In a rare move, Speaker Pelosi announced last week that the House would return this week from its August District Work Period to pass legislation to provide funding for teachers.
