Origin of blackgirlgrown Name

The name, blackgirlgrown, comes from numerous conversations with girlfriends who insisted we accept that we are “grown” women and the challenges that come with it.

Regardless of the situation, whether it is dealing with aging parents, trying to negotiate salary requirements, or battling breast cancer, it was time to put our “big girl” pants.

Thus, blackgirlgrown is a state of mind when you realize you must grow in order to survive.
