The White House: Coming off the heels of last week’s White House Health Care Reform Summit, the President used his weekly address to praise the recent bipartisan meeting and talk about moving forward on health reform. This week, President Obama will announce new steps in his Administration’s effort to improve our nation’s schools at an America’s Promise Alliance Education event and travel to Savannah, Georgia for the next stop on the White House to Main Street Tour.
The U.S. Senate: The Senate will resume consideration of legislation (H.R. 4213) to extend several expiring tax provisions and perhaps legislation to extend unemployment and COBRA health care benefits, as well as Medicaid funding.
The U.S. House of Representatives: Not too much activity on the House floor. In addition to its usual non-controversial bills on the suspension calendar, the House will work on legislation (H.R. 4247)intended to reduce the use of physical restraint on students.
