Several months ago we stumbled upon a great “Top 10” net etiquette website on all things technology including email, cell phones, and social media.  Upon entering the site, you are greeted by the Top 10 Rules for Net Etiquette which transcends all media.  Our favorite of the Top Ten:

Do not put anything you do not want anyone else to see on the internet because everyone uses it. Rule Explanation

Spell check and proof read messages before sending them because spelling errors and little mistakes make you appear uneducated. Rule Explanation

Do not send personal e-mail from business e-mail accounts because e-mail from business accounts is official company communication. Use a personal e-mail account for personal e-mail. Rule Explanation

Be conservative in e-mail you send and liberal in e-mail you receive because quality is better than quantity. Rule Explanation

You can read the Top Ten list in its entirety.  What other rules would you list?

Think “What Can you Share”? Not “What Are You Doing?” No one wants to hear when you are eating, when you are going to sleep, and when you having personal issues. A guiding rule when tweeting is tweet things that would interest you if tweeted by others.
