Now That The Damage is Done..

You spent too much on Christmas gifts and associated celebrations. Now what? Before this feeling of financial dread disappears as fast of some New Year’s resolutions, use this time to prepare for next year. Yes, easier said than done. But do you want to feel like this the same time next year? Probably not.
One of our favorite daily reads, Get Rich Slowly, has a couple of ideas on how to use this time (after double-checking your online accounts to make sure you’re still on the positive side of the ledger!) wisely:
Get Rich Slowly staff writer Adam Baker writes:
Far too many people — including me — let Christmas sneak up on us. Suddenly, somewhere around late October or early November, it hits us: Christmas is right around the corner and our budget is going to have to catch up.
I hate to break it to you, but Christmas takes place on the exact same date every year. There’s no reason it should have the opportunity to surprise us or our budgets.
Adam has some common-sense, non-monumental, nor earth-shattering to your way of life ideas to get you better prepared including a review of the damage from this year, estimating how much you’ll spend next year (same? less? more?), and most importantly, how to fool yourself into saving money all year to avoid this year’s dread.
