The White House: President Obama used his weekly address to recap his meetings with world leaders at the United Nations and G-20 Economic Summit. The president ended last week with a speech to the 39th Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation dinner.
This week, President Obama will focus on national defense issues, meeting with NATO Secretary General Rasmussen, before returning back to the political front. On Thursday, President Obama will attend a fundraising event for the Democratic Governors Association.
The U.S. Congress: The Senate Finance Committee will continue its marathon markup of health care reform legislation. At last count, more than 500 amendments remained. After extending unemployment benefits last week, the House will turn its attention back to passing annual appropriations bills.
