The White House: President Obama used his weekly address to underscore the need for a Consumer Financial Protection Agency to strengthen our financial markets and protect the interests of American consumers. On the international front, President Obama will deliver remarks at the United Nations’ Climate Change Summit and meet with several heads of state leading up to the Group of 20 (G20) Summit in Pittsburgh, PA.
The U.S. Senate: All eyes are on the Senate Finance Committee this week as they markup Chairman Baucus’ recently unveiled health care reform package.
The U.S. House of Representatives: After censuring Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) last week for his “you lie” scream by a vote of 240-179, the House will likely pass a short-term bill to fund the federal government past September 30.
