Some good news this Friday from the White House. President Obama announced the launch of the National HIV/AIDS Community Discussions, a series of events to be held across the country.  These events are hosted by the White House Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP) and will offer the public a chance to provide input as the White House works to fulfill the President’s pledge to develop a National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS).  The first event, the Atlanta HIV/AIDS Community Discussion, will be held on August 25th at the 2009 National HIV Prevention Conference.

The three goals of President Obama’s NHAS:

  • Reduce HIV incidence
  • Increase access to care and optimize health outcomes
  • Reduce HIV-related health disparities

The Atlanta HIV/AIDS Community Discussion will be held on August 25th as part of the 2009 National HIV Prevention Conference, which is being held in Atlanta from August 23-26. The Community Discussion is open to conference participants and 200 tickets have been set-aside for the local Atlanta community. ONAP is also meeting with local HIV services organizations while it is in Atlanta.
