I can’t believe blackgirlgrown is approaching its 6 month anniversary! The inspiration and concept came in late November 2008. I hadn’t found a website that spoke to me as a maturing woman of color in search of guidance, resources, and community centered around the new issues I was facing. I can’t say there was (or is) a master plan to this. I started to collect and profile articles in November 2008, but didn’t publicly launch until January 3, 2009 when I announced blackgirlgrown as a resource for your resolve.
Reflections?: I am pleased so far with the product and the response I’ve received. Its nice to know that there are women (other than my mother and girlfriends) who read blackgirlgrown and find value in it. I will also express a little pride that I have kept this up every week for six months. No fear of commitment here!
But moving forward I want to make sure that I am getting your feedback on what you like or dislike, or content that you would like to see. I am just an email away. Seriously, I enjoy reading your emails so keep them coming, and also feel free to comment or twitter on the specific posts too.
