The White House: President Obama continues to press on health care, leaving Congress to iron out the details.  In his weekly address, President Obama notes that skyrocketing costs of health care threaten long term national debt unless there is real reform.  And he outlines some savings to pay for it.  This week, President Obama returns to Chicago to speak at the American Medical Association who aren’t too keen on aspects of his plan.  Later in the week, President will headline a political fundraiser for Democrats in Washington, DC.

Treasury Secretary Geithner will appear before both House and Senate banking/finance panels to outline the Obama administration’s plan to overhaul the rules regulating the financial services industry.

The U.S. Senate: The Senate continues its wrangling on additional funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Current outstanding issues center around the release of detainee photos.  The Senate will then consider legislation to encourage travel to the United States.

The U.S. House of Representatives:  The House will get its chance to vote on final funding for the troops once the Senate completes its work.  Other issues on deck in the House this week include identity theft and what to do with the detainees in Guantanamo Bay.
