Personal Finance blog, Get Rich Slowly, outlines 25 essential books to get your financial house in order organized neatly into categories such as debt reduction, everyday personal finance, investing, financial independence, and the “psychology of money.”
I shared a list of my favorite money books once before, but that was over two years ago. I’ve read dozens of books since then (and thumbed through dozens more). Rather than point Jonathan to my old list, I spent all day yesterday scouring my bookshelves and re-reading my old book reviews. This is a revised list of 25 great books about money.
As Jonathan requested, these are all books that I found entertaining or influential. There are still many “big name” books that I haven’t read (such as A Random Walk Down Wall Street and The Intelligent Investor), and I’ve left off some perennial favorites (The Richest Man in Babylon and The Wealthy Barber, for example). This is a list of 25 books that I would happily recommend to just about anyone. Your list would be different.
And Get Rich Slowly’s WORST book on money: The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.
Over the past few years, I’ve read many bad books about money. But none can compare to to the idiocy contained in The Secret by Rhonda Byrne [my review]. This book promotes all of the wrong messages, and encourages readers to believe that if they simply wish for something, it will come true.
