The White House: President Obama used his weekly address to discuss the latest economic news and urged the passing of an America Recovery and Reinvestment (economic stimulus) Plan. He also announced that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is preparing a new strategy for reviving our financial system.
The U.S. Senate: The Senate meets to begin debate on the economic stimulus package and will also consider the nomination of Eric Holder to be attorney general, with a roll-call vote on the nomination. On Thursday, the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on the Troubled Asset Relief (bank bailout) Program.
The U.S. House of Representatives: The House meets on Monday to begin the legislative week. During the legislative week the House will consider a measure to delay the transition to digital television from Feb. 17 to June 12. On Wednesday, the House Small Business Committee will hold a hearing on health care reform in a struggling economy.
